Kenari Nuts (“Java Almonds”)
- Kenari Nuts are an excellent source of amino acids, magnesium, phosphorus, iron, potassium and manganese
- Rich in omega-3 (beneficial fats)
- When roasted, their nutty flavor and texture make it similar to the pine nut
- Handpicked from wild Kenari trees grown on fertile volcanic soil
There are currently five East Forest Kenari Nuts variants with signature flavors:
-
- Unsalted
- Sea Salt
- Cacao & Cinnamon
- Spicy Salted Caramel
- Trail Mix
Each variant is crafted from a blend of organic certified Indonesian tropical ingredients purchased directly from Kawanasi’s local partners scattered in various remote areas across Indonesia, such as Balinese Sea Salt, Fermented Balinese Cacao, Sumatran Cinnamon, Bantenese Arenga Sugar, etc.
- Kenari nuts are also known as Pili nuts in the Philippines
- Kenari nuts are one of the major ingredients in the Chinese Moon Cake
- In Indonesia, especially in Minahasa and Moluccas islands, the kernels are used for making cake (bobengka)
- The young shoots and the fruit pulp of the tree are edible too
